Donny and the Trumpettes

It is interesting all the names that the press and social media have come up with for that segment of America that blindly follows Trump, regardless of what he says or does.  I’m sure someone has made a list of all of them. A few of my favorites are Trumpers, Trumpist, Trumpet, Trumpkin, Trumpista, Trumpian, Trumpnik, or for his verbal trash which is a Trumpism.  But my favorite is Trumpery, which is what was chosen as word-of-the-day on 10/20/2017 by the Wordsmith website.  Some of these will end up being added to the dictionary.

But for me, the overwhelming issue is why this core group of voters stand behind Trump so mindlessly.  Sad but true is his own quote, “I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose voters.”   Really think about that.  These people would knowingly put a murderer in the oval office. In the presence of overwhelming proof, they will take Donny’s version of the event.  These episodes result in cries of “fake news”.  The only true account eventually comes out on Fox & Friends or some other affiliate of State TV, otherwise known as Fox Network.

I feel relatively sure that everyone reading this has tried to convince one of Trump’s core base about one untruth or another.  You end up in a circular logic trap, misdirection, or talking point that is exactly the Republican response.  It is handled so well, any White House representative or Congressional member would be envious.  If you try to use any responses seen in news media, they will be already prepared and take you down the same rabbit hole the press representative was taken.  It is obvious that this “core” of his, is the only thing that is important to Trump.  Depending on the date and the leaning of who is doing the poll, it seems that between 35% and 40% of American voters fall into this category. The question is, how does a President who is supposed to lead all American, get away with playing to a number far less than 50% of the people.  Aside from the obvious of Republicans holding both houses and the presidency, the major disconnect is the remaining 60% to 65%, are not on the same page.  Until they can form goals and work as a unit, Donny and the Trumpettes will continue to do as they wish.
