All Hope Is Lost

Today Trump’s Communications Director, Hope Hicks announced she will resign in the next few weeks.  She has worked as an aide on the President’s staff longer than anyone else. The timing of her resignation is undoubtedly tied to her refusal to answer questions the previous day at a House Intelligence Committee hearing.  Specifically, Hope refused to answer key questions about Donald Trump and his transition into the White House.  I personally remember her parroting the bullshit that Trump spewed forth, which was obviously untrue and made no sense to a normal reasoning human being.  Ms. Hicks did admit that she told “white lies” on behalf of Trump during her tenure with his administration. Another aspect of her fall is her improper handling of Rob Porter, who was pretty convincingly accused of domestic abuse by two of his past wives.  Hope was also dating him.  When spousal abuse was found to be the hold-up on him getting his top-secret clearance approved, John Kelly didn’t act on it for months.

Aside from my pun on Hope’s last name,  I am beginning to have hope that we are starting to see Trump’s corrupt presidency starting to unravel. We have seen a number of his associates plead guilty to various charges and agree to work with Mueller.   The fact of the Russians interfering with the 2016 election have been proved and charges filed.  Still, Trump continues to deny it and refer to the whole thing as a “witch hunt.”  His son-in-law and top advisor’s top secret security clearance has been downgraded.  Trump has the ability to step in shit and come out smelling like a rose, more often than anyone I can think of in my lifetime,  But as the bodies continue to pile up around him, that may be what eventually brings him down.

Which brings me to another observation   Every day of Trump’s administration there have been so many leaks it resembles a sieve.  Compare that to Mueller’s investigation, which has gone on for almost as long as Trump’s presidency.  There has been none from his staff.  I think we are watching a Grand Master of chess playing a beginner who thinks he is hot shit.  Mueller knows that history is watching and will review every aspect of what he does.  He is bringing down a President.  Mueller is a serious man, who spent twelve years as the director of the FBI laying out hundreds if not thousands of nearly airtight cases.  Trump is an impulsive clown who thinks he can lie his way out of anything.  Who do you think will win?
